Who we areTransferWise was founded in 2011 with a clear mission: Money without borders - so people and businesses can send, spend and get paid in any currency, wherever, whenever.Sure, the heart of what we do is international money transfer. And we're committed to making it instant, convenient and fair for millions of people, all over the world. But we're growing our other products and our teams at an exciting pace. And we're looking for the very best to jump on board. What it's really like to work hereAt TransferWise, we do things a bit differently. There's no corporate nonsense, and no old-fashioned hierarchy. Instead, we work in dozens of self-sufficient, autonomous teams. Think of them like start-ups within a start-up that learn from each other. Each team picks the problems they want to solve. So there's no micro-management. No hiding behind fancy job titles. And no one telling you what to do. You are your own boss. But you'll get tons of guidance and plenty of support from talented, super-smart colleagues from all over TransferWise. We're going to be upfront - the way we work doesn't suit everyone. But if freedom, autonomy, and life-affirming, head-scratching professional challenges rock your world, we could be a match made in heaven.A bit about the jobAs we are taking the revolution global, we are growing rapidly around the world and need to make sure that we have the best banks and setup to support that growth in every region. The U.K. and Europe is where we started and is our biggest market, both for sending and receiving transfers. It is the cornerstone of our business and fuels our expansion around the world. This is not your usual Relationship Manager role, you will have full responsibility across new business, speaking to governments, regulators and payments systems and managing current partners. We're on the hunt for an executor, a brilliant mind, a strong communicator. What will you be doing?Maintaining and improving existing banking relationships:Lead commercial and relationship discussions with partners, and monitor our economics on European routes to ensure we offer the most sustainable and competitive service in the marketManage existing relationships with financial institutions in Europe to ensure we continuously improve our setup by creating new opportunities with our partners.Working across other teams - product and regulation:Work closely with product teams to turn improved set ups and opportunities with partners into better products for our customers.Support the compliance team in managing the relationship with regulators and other important non-commercial relationships, such as with government departments.Together with the compliance team, understand existing and new regulations, figuring out the best way in which our product and setup are compliant with them. We see regulation as an opportunity, and we want you to help us achieving that vision!Building new banking and non-banking relationships:Together with our regional product teams, figure out whether we need to open new bank accounts and/or improve the existing banking services our partners provide (i.e.increase speed, reduce costs, add more visibility to our transactions, etc.) ;The end-to-end process involves: pitching TransferWise as a client, negotiating commercials, completing account opening forms, explaining our compliance processes to pass the required due diligence, and anything else needed to have an account ready and open for technical teams to integrate with.Identifying and leading on non-bank commercial relationships that could deliver benefits to our customers and the growth of TransferWise. For example signing up an innovative new payment method in a country, which improves conversion rates.A bit about youAn analytical thinker. You have the ability to figure out the ideal operational and commercial process with every new partner; and are keen to find the optimal set-up in new countries.Excellent at managing banking relationships, constantly creating opportunities to improve them.Able to get stuff done. Not afraid to get hands dirty to deliver what is needed - we're still a start-up and you will need an entrepreneurial mindset to thrive.Familiar with how big corporates like banks work and the different decision makers that need to be taken into account to make things happen.Understand regulation in a changing regulatory environment and have an interest in AML/KYC and risk controlsHappy to work independently and flexibly within a fast-moving environment.Passionate about transforming the financial industry for good.It would be ideal, but not essential if you:Have experience of building business relationships with financial institutions, and dealing with risk/compliance teams within banks (particularly European banks).Understand regulation in this area, or maybe have even worked directly with regulators.Understand how local and international payments work (specific knowledge of European payment systems would a plus). Are fluent in a European language in addition to English.SkillsFinance, BankingSectors
