We are looking for a Lead Engineer - Software Test & Diagnostics to work for a large automotive client based in the Surrey area. Salary is c£42-48,000 per annum (depending on experience) The successful Lead Engineer - Software Test & Diagnostics, who is responsible to lead teams, activities and projects to design, develop and undertake software testing and sign-off at various levels of maturity, ensuring reliable and safe compliance in global markets. Deliver on-board and off-board diagnostic features and tools to minimise vehicle down-time. The role will report to the Principal Engineer Architecture & Software. Main responsibilities of the role include: Lead and undertake the design, development, planning and on-time delivery of software testing and sign-off for all software changes. Provide technical expertise and strategic thinking to lead the innovative development of comprehensive software testing and diagnostic coverage from simulation through to full vehicle testing. Ensure test management processes provide traceability and demonstrable coverage as part of effective Application Lifecycle Management (ALM). Own and develop efficient or automated software testing methods, rigs, hardware and tools to achieve maximum test coverage throughout the software development stages. Lead the specification and build or procurement of required test tools, equipment, hardware and rigs, including on-going maintenance. Lead internal or external definition and development of diagnostic and software distribution tools, ensuring they are fully managed and tested before release with supporting user manuals. Regularly review in-service reliability issues to identify opportunities for improved fault-handling or diagnostics. Ensuring high customer satisfaction through reliable and intuitive on-board and off-board diagnostic features. Prepare and present technical documentation and papers, generating designs and documents to the relevant quality and safety standards. Lead the definition of and compliance with relevant business and international standards, best practice and legislation. Arrange and co-ordinate activities with internal and external partners or suppliers to achieve quality, cost and delivery targets for each project. Applications are invited from candidates who can demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience: Knowledge, Skills and Experience: Engineering Degree or equivalent experience in relevant discipline. Successfully lead software test teams/projects. Detailed understanding of vehicle electrical systems and controls. Knowledge of communication protocols and tools, e.g. CAN, LIN, IP Experience of software testing and verification processes. Experience of developing model simulation, HIL and automated testing. Demonstrable planning and delivery of concurrent tasks and projects. Ability to work in a structured engineering process oriented environment. Proven problem solving and diagnostic skills. Desirable: Experience of Vector, dSPACE, Polarion and Teamcenter tools or similar. Experience of v-model development processes. Experience of requirements capture and management. Personal Attributes: Active interest in vehicle based technologies and developments. The ability to communicate at all levels. Good team player who can lead others. Able to work without supervision under own initiative. Strives for continuous improvement. Take personal ownership in delivering projects end-to-end. Willingness to travel and support UK and international projects.
